The Maldon Row

The Maldon Row held by the Maldon Little Ship Club to raise funds for the RNLI took place on a cold and foggy Sunday, 4th January 2015. Our stalwart crew, seizing an opportunity to blow away some cobwebs took Millie over to Maldon for the 11am start down at Hythe Quay. Reinforced by bacon butties and hot coffee, our intrepid oarsmen took on all comers, ably steered by Beth, our 4 year old cox. We charged around the 4km course, holding off all opposition, to finish first in our class (coxed rowing boats). Not only first across the line, but first out of the water and into the bar at the MLSC!

It was a great day out for all who took part including the hundreds of spectators lining the riverbank. The sponsored row raised over £8000 for the RNLI, with over £3000 alone raised by the amazing team of ladies dressed in pink from Basin Oars. Thank you ladies, thank you to all those who helped to organise this fun event. See you next year.
