Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI tasked to assist a 32’ sailing yacht

HM Coastguard tasked the volunteers of Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI at 2.30pm Friday 23 April to assist a 32’ sailing yacht that had run aground on the North side of the Swallowtail with 2 persons and a dog onboard.

The Atlantic Class lifeboat ‘Tony & Robert Britt’ was launched, however shortly afterwards the lifeboat crew were contacted again by HM Coastguard and instructed to stand down as the casualty had managed to secure their anchor and made themselves safe until they could refloat on the returning tide.

The volunteer crew returned to station and prepared themselves and the lifeboat for the next time they are called upon.
