Easter Saturday at 4.30pm the volunteers of Burnham-On-Crouch RNLI were tasked by HM Coastguard to assist an Atlantic Rowing Boat in difficulty with 2 persons onboard.

The Atlantic Class lifeboat ‘Tony & Robert Britt’ was launched and upon arrival at the casualty it was established that the casualty had dragged her anchor and was being blown by the wind up against the sea wall on the south shore.

The 2 individuals aboard the casualty had tried to row themselves away from the shore to no avail, each time they made an attempt they were blown further on.

The casualty vessel was eventually taken under tow by the volunteers of Burnham-On-Crouch RNLI and towed to safety back into Burnham.

Both individuals on the casualty vessel are safe and well.
