Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI requested to launch to assess a 27’ motorboat

After their late night shout on 4 July the volunteers from Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI were again requested to launch by the Coastguard at 2.45pm 8 July in order to assess a 27’ motorboat that had sustained engine problems with 2 people onboard close to the entrance to the River Roach.

The Atlantic Class lifeboat ‘Tony & Robert Britt’ was launched and upon arrival on scene the RNLI volunteer Helm assessed the situation and made the decision that undertaking a tow was necessary and the safest way to assist the casualties.

A towline was established and the casualty vessel was successfully towed into Essex Marina being the nearest suitable safe haven.
